Michael Engdahl is a guitarist, composer, and educator based in Wichita, KS. He is a graduate of Wichita State University’s Jazz Studies program where he performed with the Jazz Arts I Big Band, Guitar Ensemble and led multiple jazz combos.
The development of his craft has allowed him to be a part of the pit orchestra for Music Theater for Young People Wichita, Wichita State University, Hesston College, and performances with the Wichita State Symphony Orchestra. Michael has performed and recorded with multiple bands and has collaborated with local artists in Wichita and the surrounding area.
As a bandleader he has played the main stage at the Wichita River Festival opening for Robert Randolph and the Family Band (2015), opening for Grammy-Award Winning group Rebirth Brass Band (2016) and shared the stage with national jazz act Fingerprints Band (2016). He was a Semi-Finalist in the Wilson Center Guitar Competition and Festival in Brookefield, WI(2016).
Michael is pursuing a M.M. Degree from Wichita State University (Spring 2017).
Currently, he leads his own jazz trio, ME3, Odisea(www.michaeljengdahl.bandcamp.com), is a part of the jazz super-group Daydream, performs with singer/songwriter Molly Neeley, and collaborates with other musicians and projects.
He recently joined the music faculty at Hutchinson Community College in Hutchinson, KS and continues to offer lessons at
Air House Music Academy (www.airhousemusic.com) in Wichita, KS.
He offers both individual and group instruction for guitar.
